Rep. Stark Applauded for Atheist Outlook
Wow, a self-identified atheist in Congress! It really says something about the power of religion in America when you have members of Congress coming out as gay or lesbian before you have one coming out as an atheist.

Actually, that's not quite accurate. It's not the power of religion, it's their fear of that power, that has kept atheist politicians in the closet. Politicians try not to alienate any potential voter, so there is a big incentive for them not to disclose their (non)beliefs.

So, bravo, Rep. Stark. God bless you.
