Still a PITA
In the wake of my wallet loss, I'm now updating all of the places that automatically bill my Discover card with the new card number. Though I'm a lot more organized than before, it's still a PITA.

Bush is one to talk
Bush Wants Newcomers to Learn English
Better yet, he could actually start reading books.
"What the president has said all along is that he wants to make sure that people who become American citizens have a command of the English language," Snow said. The way Bush so frequently murders English, making up the most Presidential words since Warren Harding coined "normalcy," he could use some English lessons.
Better yet, he could actually start reading books.
Observation of the day
The US dime does not say how much it's worth, like the penny ("one cent"), the nickel ("five cents," though you have to look very hard on the new ones) or the quarter ("quarter dollar"). It just says "one dime," as if everyone in the world is supposed to know what that means. They don't. Just ask some foreign tourists.

Interesting blogsearch
Someone at USA Today did a blogsearch for bra seat belt and got my post below, among others. Is someone there writing a column or something? Stay tuned.
When in Tampa, wear a bra
Seat Belt, Bra Save Woman From Gunshot
If I should ever decide to return to Florida (an event of low probability) and wind up in Tampa, I'm definitely going to wear a bra. My steel-ribbed corset should help protect me even further.

Sometimes Democrats get in trouble, too
Now there's a Democratic congressman facing a bribery investigation. I try to be fair. Not all of the crooks in Congress are Republicans, and Louisiana congressman William Jefferson may be one of the Democratic ones. But the large majority do seem to be Republicans.
BTW, I apparently lost my Google position for "republican in trouble." Maybe this post will help restore it.

Icky websearch of the day
thick tushy blog I don't even want to think about this one. At least I was on page 5. Of course, that means this person went through a lot of results until s/he got to my blog.

Mexico's Fox concerned about U.S troops on the border--ha!
Mexico's president Vicente Fox is concerned about the border with the USA becoming "militarized," after President Bush's plans to send the National Guard came out. Gee. I wonder why. Could it possibly be that this would impede the flow of un- or under-employed Mexicans into the U.S., where they a) are no longer his problem; and b) send back lots of money to bolster the Mexican economy? (I'm just guessing, but are these border crashers Mexico's most profitable export save maybe oil?)
I depart from the liberal camp on the question of illegal aliens (I'm not going to call them "undocumented workers," like they merely overlooked their paperwork.) I'm a lawyer, and I have high respect for the law. It disturbs me greatly when people enter our country illegally, or overstay their visas illegally. Frankly, I don't know what to do with the ones who are already here. The lawyer in me wants to round them up and deport them, but I realize the practical problems with that. However, I do think we should be doing more to secure our borders, to keep the situation from getting worse.
So send the National Guard. Better yet, use the troops we have over in Iraq, who are wasting their lives while that country grinds its way into civil war.

In the High Tech News section from the AP on my excite.com home page the following two stories appear consecutively:
